Michael T. Gottlieb is Chairman of Citation Capital Partners, Inc., a real estate finance firm specializing in commercial mortgage brokerage, located in Orange County, CA. Mr. Gottlieb has 30+ years of real estate experience in the disciplines of finance, investment, underwriting, asset management and appraisal.
Prior to forming his own firm, Mr. Gottlieb was a founding Principal and Senior Vice President of George Smith Partners, Inc., a real estate financing and consulting company, where he ran the Orange County, CA office.
During the course of his 30+ year mortgage brokerage career he has been involved in a variety of commercial mortgage transactions. These transactions included permanent mortgages, construction loans and bridge loans. Product types included apartments, office, industrial, retail, hotels, for-sale housing (ground up condominium and single family detached projects) and land development. Lenders included commercial banks, life insurance companies, Wall St. Investment Banks, Credit Companies and other institutional and private sources. Mr. Gottlieb is a licensed real estate broker in California.
From 1985 to 1988, Mr. Gottlieb worked in various business units of TRW. His real estate background began at TRW Appraisal Services, initially as General Manager of the Los Angeles operation and then as Southern California Regional Sales Manager in charge of major accounts. Previous experience included the Merger and Acquisition function in the Electronics and Defense Sector based in Redondo Beach, California. Mr. Gottlieb was a member of a team that successfully sold off 5 units internationally totaling over $100,000,000. Additionally, Mr. Gottlieb was involved in creating international market opportunities while serving as a counter trade specialist at the Corporate Headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mr. Gottlieb holds a BA in Economics from UCLA (President, Kappa Sigma Fraternity; Treasurer, Blue Key National Honorary; Order of Omega Greek Honorary; Top Advertising Salesman , UCLA Daily Bruin, UCLA Rugby Team) and an MBA in International Business from Georgetown University.
Mr. Gottlieb is a Co-Founder and Board Member of Westcoast Sports Associates , a charitable organization which provides funding for youth sports programs through the "Roy Firestone Award" (recipients of this award include Hank Aaron, John Wooden, Wayne Gretzky, Cal Ripken, Sugar Ray Leonard, Terry Bradshaw, and Arnold Palmer). He is a Co-Founder and Board Member of the UCLA Real Estate Alumni Group. He is also a founding member of the Ziman Associates, Ziman Center for Real Estate Research at the UCLA Anderson School. Before forming these groups, he was an active fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Mr. Gottlieb was the Republican nominee for the 29th U. S. Congressional District (L.A.'s Westside) in the November, 1998, General Election, after winning the June primary. Mr. Gottlieb is married with two adult children and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. He was born and raised in Los Angeles and attended Loyola High School in Los Angeles.
